NJ I-Bank Water Infrastructure News (WIN): Clinton Town borrows $2 million in Water Bank Loans, saving ratepayers approximately $560,730.

The Clinton Township Sewerage Authority (“CTSA”) recently replaced a pump station that is being financed with approximately $2 million in loans from the NJ Water Bank, a low-rate funding program jointly administered by the DEP and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (“I-Bank”). Total savings for this project are estimated to be $560,370 over the 30-year term of the loan or 28% of the total project costs as compared to the authority financing it independently. In addition, this project created an estimated 24 direct one-year construction jobs.

The upgraded pump station will not only handle the wastewater flows of the current high school but also support future development in the Beaver Brook Sewer Service Area, including the proposed Northern Highlands Regional High School Vo-Tech facility and the Apartments at Clinton residential community.

Key improvements include:

·         A new wet well with submersible pumps, influent manhole, and valve chamber with a discharge flow meter

·         A new precast electrical and equipment building with updated controls

·         A reinforced pad with an outdoor standby generator for reliability

These upgrades ensure the station is safer, more efficient, and better equipped to serve Clinton Township’s growing needs.

Brian Mullay, Mayor of Clinton Township noted “This project is an important investment for the CTSA. By working with the New Jersey Water Bank, the Authority has saved our community over half a million dollars while modernizing critical infrastructure. The upgraded pump station strengthens its ability to manage wastewater safely and reliably, supports new development, and creates local jobs. It’s a win for residents today and for generations to come.”

This project was designed by the Clinton Township Sewerage Authority and constructed by VNL Inc.
